In some ancient cultures specifically Guatemalan culture, exist a tradition to entrust any anxiety or fear experienced by children before going to bed to a doll called Worry Doll. It is believed that the doll can carry away any fears so children can then sleep peacefully and feel better in the morning.
This artwork is a collaborative piece with several sexual violence survivors who took part in writing their personal messages on to a worry doll. Introducing three of our worry dolls named Hurt, Rise and Forgive entrusted with various fears, hopes and feelings that we have never been able to convey directly to the sexual violence perpetrators.
